Kentuckiana has four major interstate highways which include 1-65, I-71, I-64 and I-265. I-65 is a direct connection to Indianapolis, IN; Chicago, Illinois; Louisville, Kentucky; and Nashville, Tennessee. I-64 has a direct connection to Louisville, Kentucky; Lexington, Kentucky; Charleston, West Virginia; and St. Louis, Missouri. The mighty Ohio River separates Indiana and Kentucky, and offers 12 month barge service to international markets.

Kentuckiana also boasts rail connections to the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville on the Ohio River. UPS Worldport in Louisville is the largest automated package facility in the world, and Kentuckiana has air service with Louisville International Airport which includes 12 carriers. Indiana has Clark County Regional Airport with a 7,000 foot runway and is located near the 6000 acre River Ridge Development site and 15 minutes from downtown Louisville.

Kentuckiana Area Developments:

Kentuckiana boasts many area developments on both sides of the River. The largest area development is the 6,000 acre River Ridge Commerce Center development site in Indiana which is located at one of two newly built bridges connecting Kentucky and Indiana. It is located at Exit 1 at the new Lewis and Clark Bridge. Another Indiana development is the former Colgate Plant located on the Ohio River directly across from downtown Louisville. The Colgate Plant has 60 acres, one million square feet of building space, and some of the best views of the Louisville skyline.

Louisville developments include a new $260 million four-diamond hotel in downtown Louisville. Several other hospitality-related construction projects, multi-family construction projects, healthcare construction projects, and retail construction projects are being implemented as the area is seeing tremendous growth and opportunity.

Workforce, Local Companies and Training:

Right-to-work labor force in Indiana and newly passed legislation in Kentucky makes the Kentuckiana area an attractive destination for employers. Many large companies already call Kentuckiana home including UPS, Ford Motor Co., General Electric (GE Appliances), Kroger Co., Papa Johns International, Humana Inc., Yum! Brands, Texas Roadhouse, Brown Foreman and Amazon. Kentuckiana has world class research and development resources including University of Louisville, Indiana University and Purdue University. There are also local skilled trade initiatives and offerings which include Ivy Tech Technical College.
